What UTSUROI is
UTSUROI gives your team’s work a structure so that you can see where it is stalling.
It looks like a task tracker, but the goal is not oversight. The goal is to get rid of “we’re stuck.”
The problem
Section titled “The problem”AI made execution — writing code, making decks, doing research — clearly faster. And yet organizations are not faster.
The bottleneck moved to decisions.
- Nothing is decided until the meeting happens
- Nobody moves until the reply arrives
- It sits still until the approval lands
- Someone is waiting on “is this right?”
Adding people does not parallelize any of this. If anything, more people means more points where you have to synchronize.
The synchronous share, and Amdahl’s law
Section titled “The synchronous share, and Amdahl’s law”From parallel computing:
The upper bound on speedup is set by the fraction that cannot be parallelized.
We call the organizational equivalent — the fraction of work that cannot move without synchronizing — the synchronous share.
With a synchronous share of s, your ceiling is roughly 1 / s.
| Synchronous share | Performance ceiling |
|---|---|
| 40% | 2.5× |
| 10% | 10× |
| 1% | 100× |
| 0.3% | 333× |
The law pays out most at the end. Cutting from 10% to 1% feels unglamorous, but the payoff goes from 10× to 100× — an order of magnitude.
UTSUROI aims to take that share from 40% down to 1%.
The direct cause of synchronization is not being able to see the state of the work. You ask because you do not know whose ball it is. You check because you do not know the deadline. Checking is synchronization.
UTSUROI extracts the state of work from everyday communication and task movement, and keeps these three things visible at all times:
- Ball holder — whose turn it is right now
- Due date — by when
- Stalls — where, and for how long
On top of that, the Slack integration makes a request become a task, and MCP lets AI tools work with it directly.
A design premise: people are imperfect
Section titled “A design premise: people are imperfect”UTSUROI does not assume you follow every notification or never miss a mention.
- People forget
- People take time off
- People prioritize something else
The work has to keep flowing anyway. So: task management that does not depend on notifications, and accountability that does not depend on anyone’s memory. Miss a mention, skim past Slack, and your task list still tells you everything you owe.
- Get started in 5 minutes
- Onboarding — rolling it out to a team
