Get started in 5 minutes
The shortest path, for people who want to try it first. For a real team rollout, see onboarding.
1. Create a workspace
Section titled “1. Create a workspace”Sign up, verify your email, and create a workspace. See Create a workspace for the choices on that screen and early-access information. If you already have an account, sign in.
Your workspace comes with one default board. The board starts with three lanes.
| Lane | Role |
|---|---|
| TODO | Not started |
| DOING | In progress |
| DONE | Finished |
These three are system lanes and cannot be renamed — their roles are fixed, because completion logic and analytics depend on the distinction. You can add your own lanes in between.
2. Create one task
Section titled “2. Create one task”Use the “+” at the bottom of a lane; a title is enough. Put in something real.
Then fill in a due date and an assignee. A task missing either of those will stall. Every time.
3. Pass the ball
Section titled “3. Pass the ball”Click the ball icon on an assignee’s avatar to hand them the ball.
Assignee and ball holder are different things:
- Assignee — people involved in this task (can be several)
- Ball holder — whose turn it is right now (exactly one)
If it is waiting on review, the ball is with the reviewer. Keeping these apart is what makes “tasks I am blocking” a query you can actually run.
More in assignees and the ball holder.
4. Look at your own situation
Section titled “4. Look at your own situation”My Hub in the sidebar collects everything that concerns you.
- My tasks
- Overdue tasks
- Unread mentions / unread comments
The home page shows your day at a glance. Stalls appear in vermilion, new activity in fresh green.
5. Connect it
Section titled “5. Connect it”That much works as manual task tracking. The point of UTSUROI starts here.
- Connect Slack — a request becomes a task
- Connect MCP — drive it from the AI tools you already use
