If you were just invited
A short guide for people who were invited to UTSUROI. Three minutes.
After accepting your invitation, open UTSUROI to return to the app.
1. Your work is in “My Hub”
Section titled “1. Your work is in “My Hub””Open My Hub in the sidebar. Everything that concerns you collects there.
- My tasks — tasks assigned to you
- Overdue tasks
- Unread mentions / unread comments
The home page shows your day at a glance. Stalls appear in vermilion, new activity in fresh green.
2. “Assignee” and “ball holder” are different
Section titled “2. “Assignee” and “ball holder” are different”Understand this one thing and the rest follows.
- Assignee — people involved in this task. Can be several.
- Ball holder — whose turn it is right now. Exactly one.
When you send something for review, you stay an assignee and the ball moves to the reviewer.
A task where you hold the ball is a task you are currently blocking. Emptying that list is the single biggest thing you can do for the team’s speed.
3. Pass the ball when you are done
Section titled “3. Pass the ball when you are done”When your part is finished, either complete the task or hand the ball to the next person.
What you must not do is hold the ball and go quiet. To everyone else that looks like “still working on it.”
4. When you ask for something, bring three things
Section titled “4. When you ask for something, bring three things”- What — title and description
- By when — a date, not “this week”
- Who — assignee, and the ball holder
“Someone, this week” is not a request. It will fall through.
